Past Knowledge:
Going into my photoshop journey I began with basically no experience with the program, I knew that this was a widely used program, and part of the adobe family that makes very professional grade software for the photo and video department. Going into this I expected this to be a pretty complicated program to get ahold of and be able to fully harness the power that it is capable of.
Current experience:
And as to not let me down at all…. that is exactly what it is. This program has very basic functions, all the way up to very advanced functions that you can dig through pages and pop-up boxes for hours, trying to find and figure out. Fortunately Youtube has an incredible amount of videos on just about anything you could ever want to accomplish in Photoshop.
I have found that for me the best way to learn in photoshop, at least at this beginning stage, is to import a photo and start clicking things. I enjoyed doing this because it was easier for me to see how these tools could be used by how they physically could alter an image. And with each tool there are different versions, that you could quite literally spend all day exploring and still not see them all. Then if I am unable to figure out something that I am interested in doing to an image I can always fall back on Youtube for specific things.
What the future holds:
For me and photoshop I can see uses in this in my future, I recently bought a new Sony camera and have enjoyed taking pictures on hunting trips and events. Giving myself plenty of pictures that I have been using for all of my photos in my website. I think this is a very cool way to capture a moment in time that my friends and myself will be able to look back on and remember in much greater detail after looking at the pictures.
Because of this I would like to have the best quality pictures that I can have. I think that the right picture with the right components and lighting can really say a lot about the setting and story behind the image, which is exactly what I am trying to capture in my photography. Because of this I think photoshop would be very useful in making these images perfect for my purpose.
Current Examples:
While I was learning photoshop, two of my close friends had an engagement photoshoot. A week later they got their photos back and they were great, the only problem was that my friend Emily had cut herself a couple days before the photoshoot in an epic battle against some cheese that had a sharp plastic edge on the wrapping.
With access to photoshop, she sent me the picture and I was able to remove the large cut from her forearm.

After:
Although this was a small change, with the tools that are provided in photoshop it was very easy , just this small adjustment made the picture perfect.
